Lyrics

Artist, poets, pundits and preachers come to enlighten me

Claiming they know how to set me free

So much of what we have is steeped in irony

And all the crap that we've amassed is weighing down on me

But today, I don't wanna play

I'm gonna cling to hope and sail away

So today I ain't gonna play

I’m gonna gather my friends and we’ll sail away

Peddlers, merchants, brokers and traders come to interest me

Claiming they know how to set me free

So much of what we have are useless commodities

And all the crap that we’ve amassed is weighing down on me

But today, I don’t wanna play

I’m gonna cling to faith and sail away

So today I ain’t gonna play

I’m gonna gather my friends and we’ll sail away

All the work, all the practice and all the prayer

When we’re in the thick of it, baby, I don’t care

‘Cause when there’s no more you and no more me

We’ll be reaching out through these memories

Judges, prophets, seers and sages come to reform me

Claiming they know how to set me free

So much of what we have is pop psychology

And all the crap that we’ve amassed is weighing down on me

But today I don’t wanna play

I’m gonna cling to love and sail away

So today I ain’t gonna play

I’m gonna gather my friends and we’ll sail away
